I’m back in Michigan, where medical marijuana ads can be found on restaurant place mats. Home sweet home.
Unexpected first real snow for mandog upon arriving in Michigan.

Falcor is turning into such a big mandog.

But it makes him sleepy.

All of his sisters are crazy.

And so are his parents.

My brother was such a great protective older sibling when we were growing up. As I’ve grown older and more independent, he has obviously given me my space. However, having the memory of his protective sibling self watching over me while I was forming my opinions and growing my young brain was very important to my development. Yes, I have a younger sister and she has been an incredible influence in my development as well, but my brother’s watching eyes and loving arms are what I’m concerned with at the moment. I’ve mentioned my sister numerous times on this ridiculous blog of mine, but rarely have I mentioned my brother.
Brother Nordyke has helped me to build my music library, shape my spiritual and political ideas, and think for myself. Being a middle child can be a difficult spot, but it’s less difficult when you have an older sibling who speaks their mind and shares their opinion with the younger offspring. I like to think that I’m fiercely independent as a product of my solitary development, but I believe I may owe that to my brother.
This photo is one of many where we were joined at the hip. I can’t count the number of photos of the two of us arm in arm romping around being giant nerds together or driving our parents nuts. Some of my fondest memories are those involving making my brother laugh so hard at the dinner table that he needed to excuse himself, resulting in us both getting in some deep shit. How awesome is it to have amazing relationships with sibling that carry on past that time when you’re content to just get along? As much as I may bemoan our silly interactions, I truly adore my brother and enjoy the relationship that we carry on to this day.
Love you, brother Nordyke. I’m glad you let me suck my thumb and rest on your head. I’m also glad that you let me make you laugh so hard I thought you would punch me this past weekend. That was awesome.
I got my Michigan tattoo today. Photo once I finish this amazing pizza littered with olives.

I kind of love that Midwestern tax breaks bring the film industry our way. Hometown pride.
How’s a girl supposed to pack for a weekend in the mitten state when three Mad Men discs just came in the mail from Facets?
This is tough.
